WHAT DO YOU NEED FROM GOD TODAY?
Part 3
Pastor Maselo Mosomane
“So Jesus answered and said to them, Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” Mark 11:22-24
Beloved, I am so excited to be sharing this message with you. I have no doubt in my mind that the word in this message will transform you and bring you to a place where you will come to God with a child-like faith and say; “Lord; I have come to receive.” Mind you it is God’s will that we should receive whatever things we desire by faith when we pray. Hold on to this and never allow anyone to move you out of it – not even our shortcomings.
It is true; we may not be eloquent enough to convince you that you can have whatever you say, but these things don’t work because we are eloquent. They work because we believe the word of God. Our English may not be appealing to you, but it is not about our language purity; it is about the word of God applied by faith by whosoever. Don’t allow our shortcomings to hinder you. Just open up and receive. What do you need from God today? The Salesman may not be perfect, but I assure you the product is perfect.
By now you must have identified your need and written it down. The first thing we said we must do is to identify a need. Among many, choose a pressing need – one that needs immediate attention. We are aware that right now needs are competing for attention. Pick on one and write it down. Make sure there is a promise of such need in the word of God. Write it down so you don’t forget it. Writing it also helps you not lose focus. Talk about it as often as possible. It is called confession.
We talked about confession in Part 2 of our teaching and today we are going to talk about DECLARATION of our faith. We are going to declare our need into existence.
Let us firs remind ourselves that when we confess we talk. To confess is to open your mouth and speak. The question maybe; who do we talk to? We talk to ourselves. When we confess the word we talk to ourselves about what God says about us or circumstance. We must speak to ourselves until the mind is convinced. With people I know it’s funny talking to yourself, but with God this is how things get done. You don’t talk to people; you talk to yourself. You don’t go about talking to people about your needs. I know; this is the easiest thing to do. Don’t go about asking people to meet your needs. They are not your God; so don’t make them your source. Learn to apply the word for yourself – learn to trust God and depend on Him.
It is only when the mind is convinced that it’ll open up the gates downtown Spiritview. Unless the mind is convinced the gates won’t open. This is how the mind operates. The more the mind hears a particular piece of information, the easier it becomes for it to give in to pressure and allow that information down into the spirit. Once we manage to deposit the truth about our need into our spirits faith comes. This, Jesus says is a very important thing to do and this is how He sums it up; “have faith in God.” Until faith comes, we can’t move to the next step because even if we move nothing will work.
The next step is to DECLARE our faith. Jesus calls it talking to mountains. He says in verse 23; “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”
WE FIRST TALK TO OURSELVES and then
o TALK TO THE NEED OR PROBLEM
You must never attempt to speak to mountains before you speak to yourself. Many have tried and results have proven that the protocol was not followed. What is the protocol?
Decide what you need from God
Make sure your need is backed by the word of God
Write it down so your attention is not divided
Talk to yourself about it – confess it
Speak to the mountain
Jesus says whosoever shall do these, shall have whatever he says. Have what? Have whatever he says. He is saying we can have whatever we say. Where is our need? You are right; our need is in our mouth and in our heart. “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach)” Romans 10:8. The word that guarantees our needs is settled in our hearts (spirits) and then spoken in our mouths. This is the word of faith which we preach. In other words; the word that we preach must first be in the heart and then flow out our mouths.
I remember teaching this principle to students at Ndebele College of Education in 1988. I asked them to write their needs in their bibles. I asked them to follow the procedure and trust God to bring His word to pass. Next week when I came back, I could not preach. It was testimony after testimony. One testimony that I cannot forget was about one lady student who had problems in one subject. She was due to write a test the next week. She had 50% in her mind but changed it to 62%. She wrote it in her bible and went out to study. She said as she was testifying; “I said to myself, 50% is common. Let me make it a bit difficult; then I would know it is God when it happens.” She came forward with her results and she got 62%. We had a feast of testimonies praising God for honoring His word and the declaration of our faith.
